Tiny Bubbles, Tiny connection

Bubble sky
Originally uploaded by Frenchie1108.
Today as I drove home in artsy Allentown, this old guy was blowing bubbles outside his 4-story window....as the bubbles cascaded down the building into the intersection where I waited at the red light, I thought, this is a really cool way to make a connection.
So I beeped my horn (yes, most of you know I am a horn-user) and I gave him the 'thumbs-up", of course he smiled and "thumbs-up" back at me.
It was a tiny moment, but it made me smile, and i hope he got a bit of positive energy out if it as well...

So...I guess if we all try to make tiny connections, we can spread lots of smiles in the world....
one bubble at a time....

car in the dumps...but I am not

broke car
Originally uploaded by la femme jen.
Monday Monday.....today my car started like she usually does...then decided, " no, I have had enough, time to replace my alternator"

The day was constantly full of ups and downs, the AAA old guy tried to sell me an overpriced battery, the repair shop gave me a laundry list of things to fix, and then my pal Mark the car guy came in and did it all for free right in the street! (he finally took $20)...

Thanks to Joey who picked me up with a smile and a starbucks coffee...thanks Mom for your car today...
and to Rico...for your constant ear, virtual shoulder and ways to make me smile~

The book is by Scott Simon's (he's from NPR) called-- "Pretty Birds"--its a touching tail about the Bosian-Serb war through the eyes of a teenage girl---in Sarajevo.

I am also enjoy our local used book store "Rust Belt Books" is a great find in Buffalo----ALLEN ST~

A road we all travel

Country road
Originally uploaded by Igor Alecsander.
Today I realized how we all travel such a similar road in life, we are all in just different places at different times, yet we (almost all) experience happiness, love, loss, saddness etc...
As I stumbled on to my friend's blog....I realized this yet again....how much we are connected as humans and how this medium can help us all remember life is a beautiful path (like this one).... and to enjoy each step of the way...

So, to remind me of that beauty...here's a quote from the "Gita" (for those that don't know it's an Indian Hindu book)

"If one ponders on objects of the senses, there springs Attraction: from attraction grows desire, Desire flames to fierce passion, passion breeds recklessness; then the memory--all betrayed--Lets noble purpose go, and saps the mind, Till purpose, mind and man are all undone"

What does it mean? I don't really know, but I see it as we all go through these crazy times (and maybe bad decisions or good ones?) to experience WHO WE ARE...and when I remember that, I really feel truly happy and content (even when I am sad)....

So my friend, please don't despair....

Study Proves that Women know how to pick a good man

This study was really interesting....
Check out the BBC story: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/4751501.stm

"Our results show that women are surprisingly accurate in judging a man's masculinity and his interest in infants by looking at his face.
"Our results also show that women value masculinity as a desirable trait for short-term relationships and interest in infants as a desirable trait for more stable long-term relationships."

The sun is dimming?

Most of us have accepted that Global Warming is a reality (except neo-conservatives like George Bush and friends)....but did you also know the Sun is dimming!
Last night I watched a NOVA investigation which showed evidence for a little-known phenomenon called global dimming and they explored its potential impact on climate worldwide~!

The first signs of global dimming came in the 1980s when one scientist—who measured sunlight amounts over Israel in the 1950s—found a 22 percent drop in sunlight 20 years later.

The optimist I am looks for solutions: and here they are! MAKE A DIFFERENCE!http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/sun/clea-nf.html

Happy Adian Easter

Our usual family outtings were fun as usual, at least one person got in a fight, one person spilled wine and someone cried for sure (Aidan)....however this year wasn't the same as usual. We were missing a part of our family, but we realized that we are never without him, we know he was watching us from Heaven.
So here's Adie (that's what I call him) and Auntie Di
I just love him so much!
